ConstitutionRMHA Rules are in place as guide lines. They are currently under review by the Board of Directors and will be revised shortly.
Article I: Name
The name of the organization shall be “Recreational Minor Hockey Association of Niagara Falls.” Throughout the Constitution and By-laws, the organizational name shall be shortened to Recreational Minor Hockey. In the event that Recreational Minor Hockey obtains a corporate sponsor, the above name may change to reflect such sponsorship.
Article II: Purpose
(1) To place the player and his/her enjoyment of the game ahead of the self-interest of league members.
(2) To maximize each player’s opportunity for participation in the development of his/her hockey skills.
(3) To promote the personal development of players, coaches and officials in a positive setting.
(4) To foster good sportsmanship, citizenship, goodwill and team cooperation. There shall be no place in Recreational Minor Hockey for discriminatory behaviour with respect to race, place of origin, family circumstances, gender, or creed.
(5) To provide a programme where all participants are treated equal regardless of their abilities.
(6) To provide a recreational non-contact hockey league.
Article III: Board of Directors
The Board of Directors of Recreational Minor Hockey shall consist of the following positions:
(1) President (2) Vice-President (3) Secretary (4) Treasurer (5) Parent Liaison (6) Convenor (7) Convenor (8) Convenor (9) Convenor (10) Immediate Past President
(i) Each of the above positions shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting of
(ii) Elected members of the Board of Directors of Recreational Minor shall take office on
(iii) Each Board position shall be for a term of one (1) year, or until his/her successor is elected.
(vi) No person shall be elected President until he or she has currently served at least one term as
Article IV: Annual General Meeting
The Annual General Meeting will be held each year during the time period from the first until the fifteenth of April.
Article V: Authority
The Board of Directors of Recreational Minor Hockey shall have exclusive and full authority over By-laws, Operating Policies, League Expenditures, and Playing Rules.
Article VI: Amendments
Proposed constitutional change(s) may be made by any member in good standing of Recreational Minor Hockey as defined in Article I of the By-laws of Recreational Minor Hockey. Prior to any constitutional change(s) being made, the proposed change(s) must be submitted in writing to the Board of Directors of Recreational Minor Hockey at least thirty (30) days prior to the date of the last playoff game. The proposed constitutional change(s) must be posted in a conspicuous place at the Niagara Falls Gale Center at least fourteen (14) days prior to the date of the last playoff game. For the proposed constitutional change(s) to become effective, the change(s) must be approved by two-thirds of all eligible voting members present at the Annual General Meeting.
